    Fake smiles all around…

“The Boys” are back in town this June, with Amazon releasing a video announcement that the third season of their ultra-violent superhero series is headed to Prime on June 3, 2022!

    Check out the tease below.

It’s unclear if Amazon will follow the same release strategy of the previous two seasons but it’s likely that they’ll release the first three episodes on June 3rd, followed by new episodes weekly.

“The Boys” (based on the best-selling comics by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson) puts a bold, fresh and bloody new spin on the superhero genre, centered on a group of vigilantes who set out to take down corrupt superheroes. And in the world of “The Boys,” well, let’s just say these particular superheroes are total assholes.

“The even more intense, more insane season two finds The Boys on the run from the law, hunted by the Supes, and desperately trying to regroup and fight back against Vought. In hiding, Hughie (Jack Quaid), Mother’s Milk (Laz Alonso), Frenchie (Tomer Capon) and Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara) try to adjust to a new normal, with Butcher (Karl Urban) nowhere to be found. Meanwhile, Starlight (Erin Moriarty) must navigate her place in The Seven as Homelander (Antony Starr) sets his sights on taking complete control. His power is threatened with the addition of Stormfront (Aya Cash), a social media-savvy new Supe, who has an agenda of her own.  On top of that, the Supervillain threat takes center stage and makes waves as Vought seeks to capitalize on the nation’s paranoia.”

The Boys are Billy Butcher (Karl Urban, “Star Trek”), Hughie (Jack Quaid, “The Hunger Games”), Mother’s Milk (Laz Alonso, “Detroit”), Frenchie (Tomer Capon, “Hostages”), and The Female (Karen Fukuhara, “Suicide Squad”). Simon Pegg (“Mission: Impossible – Fallout”) guest stars as Hughie’s father.

The Supes of The Seven are led by Homelander (Antony Starr, “Banshee”) who is joined by Starlight (Erin Moriarty, “Captain Fantastic”), Queen Maeve (Dominique McElligott, “House of Cards”), A-Train (Jessie T. Usher, “Independence Day: Resurgence”), The Deep (Chace Crawford, “Gossip Girl”) and Black Noir (Nathan Mitchell, “Supernatural”).

TVLine notes that the upcoming run will also welcome several new characters, including Nick Wechsler (Revenge) as Blue Hawk (get first look) and Laurie Holden (The Walking Dead) as Crimson Countess (get first look). Additional newcomers include Miles Gaston Villanueva (Law & Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders) as Supersonic, Sean Patrick Flannery (Dexter) as Gunpowder, Katia Winter (Sleepy Hollow) as Little Nina, and Kristin Booth (Orphan Black) and Jack Doolan (Marcella) as Tessa and Tommy, aka the TNT Twins.

The series hails from a team including Eric Kripke, Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg.
