Lara Jean Chorostecki, who played Freddie Lounds in NBC’s “Hannibal,” is reteaming with Don Mancini for the upcoming “Chucky” Season 2, Deadline is reporting this afternoon.
Deadline notes, “Details of Chorostecki’s character are being kept under wraps, as the setting for the new season is yet to be revealed.”
Brad Dourif and Jennifer Tilly will both be back for “Chucky” Season 2, with returning cast also including Zackary Arthur as Jake Wheeler, Björgvin Arnarson as Devon Evans, Alyvia Alyn Lind as Lexy Cross, Fiona Dourif as Nica Pierce, Alex Vincent as Andy Barclay, Christine Elise as Kyle and Barbara Alyn Woods as Mayor Michelle Cross.
Devon Sawa will be playing a new character in the second season.
For the first season, Brad Dourif returned as Chucky and Tilly as Tiffany, which continued the storylines from the *original* movies and their recent sequels, Curse and Cult of Chucky.
“Chucky” has been described as a “fresh take on the franchise” that “explores Chucky’s character with a depth that is uniquely afforded by the television series format.”
In the series, “After a vintage Chucky doll turns up at a suburban yard sale, an idyllic American town is thrown into chaos as a series of horrifying murders begin to expose the town’s hypocrisies and secrets. Meanwhile, the arrival of enemies — and allies — from Chucky’s past threatens to expose the truth behind the killings, as well as the demon doll’s untold origins as a seemingly ordinary child who somehow became this notorious monster.”
“Chucky” is produced by UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group, and executive produced by creator Don Mancini, David Kirschner, Nick Antosca, Alex Hedlund and Harley Peyton.
