The most anticipated horror movie of the summer arrives in theaters, but it’s hardly the only new release available this week.
In addition to Jordan Peele‘s NOPE, there are four more horror movies debuting, from found footage nightmares to horror westerns.
Here’s all the new horror releasing July 19-22, 2022….
The week’s releases kick off with a trip to outer space; Amityville in Space takes the horror franchise to new frontiers. It’s currently available on VOD and DVD.
“The ultimate battle against the Amityville curse begins after the infamous murder house is exorcised from Earth and reappears in outer space in Amityville in Space.”
From director Mark Polonia (Sharkula), this one stars Titus Himmelberger, Cassandra Hayes, Tim Hatch, Ryan Dalton and Jeff Kirkendall.
Dutch director Nico van den Brink’s directorial debut Moloch heads to Shudder on Thursday, July 21.
“38-year-old Betriek lives at the edge of a peat bog in the North of the Netherlands. When she and her family are attacked by a random stranger one night, Betriek sets out to find an explanation. The more she digs, the more she becomes convinced that she is being hunted by something ancient.”
Written by van den Brink and Daan Bakker, Moloch stars Sallie Harmsen (Blade Runner 2049, Catch) and Alexandre Willaume (The Wheel of Time, The Last Kingdom).
Mean Creek director Jacob Aaron Estes is back with found footage nightmare He’s Watching, available on VOD on July 21.
“When happy-go-lucky siblings Iris and Lucas are left alone while their parents recover from an illness, a series of playful pranks they play on each other escalate when they start receiving unsettling images and videos on their phones. As the incoming messages become increasingly nightmarish, Iris and Lucas realize something sinister has taken root in their home.”
Estes conceived and created the film during the pandemic lockdown with his family.
Jacob Aaron Estes also serves as the film’s writer, editor, cinematographer, producer, and co-star. The cast includes Iris Serena Estes, Lucas Steel Estes, and Gretchen Lieberum, who produce.
Horror and westerns collide with writer/director Chris Canfield’s feature debut, Blackwood, releasing in theaters on July 22 before a VOD and digital release on July 26.

The Wendigo horror movie stars Glenn Morshower (Transformers: The Last Knight), Tanajsia Slaughter (The Last Son), Bates Wilder (Joy), Stelio Savante (My Super Ex-Girlfriend), and David ‘Shark’ Fralick (Reap What You Sow).
The biggest release of the week: Oscar winner Jordan Peele‘s third horror movie Nope arrives in theaters on Friday, July 22.
In the myterious new film, “Residents in a lonely gulch of inland California who bear witness to an uncanny and chilling discovery.”
Daniel Kaluuya (Get Out) will be reteaming with Peele on the mysterious movie, with the cast also including Steven Yeun (“The Walking Dead,” Mayhem) and Keke Palmer (“Scream”). Michael Wincott (The Crow), Barbie Ferreira and Brandon Perea also star.
