YSL Beauty is working to “Rewild Our Earth” in Canada
YSL Beauty Canada has announced the Canadian launch of an ambitious environmental program, entitled Rewild Our Earth. As part of the beauty brand’s wider sustainability efforts and commitment to the planet (inspired by Yves Saint Laurent’s legacy), this initiative aims to restore and protect the South Okanagan Grasslands in British Columbia in partnership with world-class NGO Re:wild and local operating NGO partner, The Nature Trust of British Columbia. Located within the traditional territories of First Nations communities, the South Okanagan region is a priority area for biodiversity, and its Grasslands are an important historical site and source of food and medicine.To maintain cultural traditions in the area, the program will seek help from traditional ecological knowledge keepers from the Okanagan Nation Education and Cultural En’owkin Center. Through this act of rewilding — a holistic approach to removing barriers and reestablishing wildlife populations and ecosystems — YSL Beauty and its partners are working towards the protection and restoration of 100,000 hectares of land by 2030.
