It’s a new year and you can expect fresh new updates for The Texas Chain Saw Massacre video game throughout the year. At this point in time, new content is planned at least through August, with the developers promising more updates as long as fans keep playing.
During a question and answer session over on Reddit this week, Gun’s Andy Cleves provided a little teaser for what we can expect in the coming months. Responding to a fan who asked for “more skins, characters, levels,” Cleves responded with a simple message: “All coming.”
Cleves elaborated a tiny bit more, “We do have a lot of content in the works. Wes Keltner confirmed in a recent stream that we have content planned through August of this year. If players continue to play, then more content will follow past August.”
Cleves also noted during the post-holiday check in, “Getting players into matches in a much faster and smoother fashion is a top priority,” responding to various fans who raised the issue. Cleves added, “Lobby wait times is currently our top priority. The lobby timer will be removed entirely in a future patch. So no more of lobbies closing due to not enough players. We’re also exploring a few other means to help combat lobby wait times and lobby dodging.”
Also currently in the works? A “Johnny rework” and a “Danny rebalance.”

The game features classic villains from the movies as well as new family members, and the events of the Chain Saw game take place *before* Tobe Hooper’s original classic.
Here’s the plot synopsis: “A group of five young adults led by Ana Flores set out to search for her missing sister. What they found was terror beyond their wildest nightmares.”
Brandon Trush writes in his review for BD, “asymmetrical horror evolves to fit a terror classic.”
