Rising country singer performs “My First Rodeo,” “I Got Time,” and “If You Say So” for CBS Saturday Morning
Rising country singer Brittney Spencer showcased songs from her 2023 debut album My Stupid Life on CBS Saturday Morning’s latest Saturday Sessions.
For the performance, the Baltimore-born singer delivered “My First Rodeo,” “I Got Time,” and “If You Say So” from her must-hear LP released earlier this month.
“Spencer traverses a blend of muscular pop-rock, textured soul, and anthemic singalong pop, all of it grounded squarely in a genre-agnostic country that conjures Maren Morris’ landmark album Hero,” Rolling Stone said of My Stupid Life.
“Spencer has assembled an ace team to showcase her versatile voice and incisive writing, including producer Daniel Tashian (Kacey Musgraves’ Golden Hour). The result is a record unencumbered by the need to constantly prove its Nashville bona fides, and in doing so ends up being one of the more convincing country statements in some time.”
In 2023, Spencer talked to Rolling Stone for our Future 25 list about her journey from Baltimore to Nashville, with her viral rendition of the Highwomen’s “Crowded Table” resulting in a friendship with Maren Morris, opening slots for Reba McEntire, Bruce Springsteen and Brett Eldredge, and an appearance on Jason Isbell’s Georgia Blue covers album.
“My first points of entry into this industry were with people who made me feel really safe,” Spencer said. “The Highwomen are family to me. Jason Isbell made me feel safe. Going on tour with Brett Eldredge and Reba, they were so kind and so welcoming and so themselves with me it made me feel like I could be myself onstage and off.”
