Miley Cyrus Performs Rendition of Talking Heads’ ‘Psycho Killer’

Cyrus is set to be featured on the Talking Heads tribute album version of Stop Making Sense

Miley Cyrus is honoring one of the greats.

On Thursday night, Cyrus performed a medley that included “Psycho Killer” by the Talking Heads during an intimate show at Los Angeles’ Chateau Marmont.

The singer could be seen in a black top and pants singing alongside a guitarist inside the iconic hotel as she performed some alternative lyrics before telling the crowd, “If you know this song, this is the regular part,” she told the crowd before singing the “Psycho Killer” chorus.

The new performance comes several months after A24 announced it was working on a Talking Heads tribute album, featuring covers of the David Byrne group’s Stop Making Sense iconic live album. The project is set to feature renditions from Cyrus, Lorde, and Paramore.

Fans speculate that the Cyrus performance is a preview of her musical contribution to the project. Girl in Red, The National, Teezo Touchdown, Kevin Abstract, Jean Dawson, and Chicano Batman are also slated to be included on the LP. (A24 acquired the worldwide rights to the Stop Making Sense concert film.)

Cyrus and Byrne also have some history. The pair connected onstage during Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party, celebrating the start of 2023. During the show, the duo performed David Bowie’s “Let’s Dance” and Byrne’s own “Everybody’s Coming To My House.”

And back in 2017, Cyrus donned Byrne’s oversized suit jacket and glasses for “Once In a Lifetime” during a Lip Sync Battle on The Tonight Show where she emulated the legendary 1984 Talking Heads concert film.

Cyrus also has a penchant for performing at the Chateau Marmont. In November 2023, she debuted two songs from Endless Summer Vacation at the hotel. She also played a cover of Journey’s “Faithfully” there in December.
