The talk show host performed Stapleton’s “I Was Wrong” just last month

Kelly Clarkson knows how to give a spin to any cover — even if it’s outside her typical genre.

On Thursday, Clarkson performed a rendition of Chris Stapleton‘s love song “White Horse” from his 2023 album, Higher, during the Kellyoke segment of her talk show. (Notably, Clarkson performed the other “White Horse,” the one by Taylor Swift, during a live show in 2019.)

This isn’t the first time that Clarkson has covered Stapleton. She performed “I Was Wrong” just last month, “You Should Probably Leave” last year, and “Tennessee Whiskey” back in 2020.

“White Horse” dropped in November, and Stapleton performed the song during the 2023 CMA Awards. (Stapleton is also playing the track on the road during his All-American Road Show Tour. His next stop is in Winnipeg on April 3.)

The Chemistry singer recently made headlines for a cross-complaint against her ex-husband Brandon Blackstock and his management company as she hopes to possibly expand the $2.6 million labor award she received last year. Clarkson claims Blackstock and Starstruck violated the Talent Agencies Act by unlawfully acting in the capacity of a talent agency in California for the entire period of their working relationship, dating back to 2007.

On Wednesday, Clarkson was named one of the hosts for the Paris Olympics Opening Ceremony, alongside Mike Tirico and Peyton Manning. “Together we are hosting the opening ceremony for the Paris Olympic Games,” she told the audience before bringing them onstage during The Tonight Show. “You will never see these three individuals do anything else together. This is the most random thing they’ve done and I am down for the ride.”
