“When the private jet you’re in just stopped mid air, turned around & said we had to emergency land because of a malfunction,” Bunnie Xo says in her video caption.
An hour later, she added, “We landed but might have to get back on the same plane.”
Harrowing stories of country stars in private jets are not terribly uncommon: Sara Evans once recalled a terrifying incident aboard a private plane when the gyroscope malfunctioned and she thought she was going to die.
In November 2021, Cody Johnson told Taste of Country how a near-death experience on a private plane inspired his performance on the hit song “Til You Can’t.”
Sadly, plane crashes have cut short the lives of at least six country music stars, including Patsy Cline, John Denver and Jim Reeves.
At the 2024 CMTs, Jelly Roll is up for three awards for his “Need a Favor” music video. It’s not certain which song he’ll perform.
Fans likely remember his moving acceptance speeches from the 2023 CMT Music Awards. His two wins were his first in country music. Earlier this week he gave an impassioned speech when he took home a pair of awards at the iHeartRadio Music Awards.
The 2024 CMT Music Awards begin at 8PM ET on CBS on April 7.
