Morgan Wallen Breaks His Silence Following Nashville Arrest

Morgan Wallen has broken his silence — the star just released his first statement since his April 7 arrest in downtown Nashville.

In a post to social media on Friday evening (April 19), Wallen tells fans that it took him so long to say something publicly because he had to make “amends with some folks.”

He adds that he’s not proud of his behavior.

Wallen was arrested on three felony charges after an incident at the newly opened Chief’s — Eric Church’s bar and honky-tonk — as the 2024 CMT Awards were ending in Austin, Texas.

WTVF-TV in Nashville was first to share news of Wallen’s arrest after the “Last Night” hitmaker was accused of throwing a chair from the sixth floor rooftop of Chief’s.

Several police officers were standing in front of the business at the time, and the chair landed just feet from where they were standing.

Per a police report gathered by the news station, staff at Chief’s told MNPD that it was Wallen who threw the chair. Police also reportedly viewed video of the incident, and witnesses said that the 30-year-old laughed afterward.

Wallen’s charges include three counts of reckless endangerment: One for each officer and one for the general public in the area. He was also charged with disorderly conduct.

Bond was set at $15,520 — WSMV in Nashville reports that Wallen was released around 3:30AM April 8.

At the time, Wallen’s reps stated that the Billboard-charting singer was fully cooperating with authorities.

This is Morgan Wallen’s second arrest in downtown Nashville: In May 2020 he was arrested at Kid Rock‘s bar on disorderly conduct charges.

Wallen is between dates on his One Night at a Time Tour, though the heavily popular run will resume Saturday night (April 20).

Coincidentally, the next concert is at the site of Wallen’s last big public controversy, Vaught-Hemingway Stadium in Oxford, Miss. He was scheduled to play the venue last April, but canceled the show last minute, when fans were already inside the venue, waiting for the show to start. Many were upset at the timing.

Wallen is due in court on May 3, 2024 to face the three felony counts of reckless endangerment from the most recent arrest.
