C, XOXO is just a week away — and Camila Cabello is giving fans a “sensual” taste of what’s to come with her new LP. On Friday, she released “Chanel No. 5” from her fourth album, out June 28.
“The world of C, XOXO is a very sensual one, and in the root meaning sense of that word. Sensual meaning ‘of the senses’ – taste, touch, sight, smell, sound,” she wrote on X ahead of the song’s release. “I wanted you to be in the sensory world I was in when I wrote it.”
The track is a hyperpop ballad and a “gift to you,” the fans, she wrote. In her post, she also revealed a video is on its way and shared lyrics from the track: “Red chipped nails is our way of wabi-sabi/Being tongue-tied is also shibari/We’re subtle and complex like the taste of umami/Magic and real like a Murakami novel.”
Her tweet included a video of Cabello doing an interpretative dance as images of a cobra flashed on screen over the notes of a piano, which are featured throughout the song.
“Chanel No. 5” marks C, XOXO‘s third single following “I Luv It,” which she debuted at Coachella with Lana Del Rey, and “He Knows” featuring Lil Nas X. The album, co-produced by El Guincho and Jasper Harris, is also set to include a pair of songs featuring Drake, “Dade County Dreaming” with City Girls, and standout “Dream-Girls.”
“This is the best project I’ve ever made, and I have never been so proud of a body of work. It’s just such a world,” Cabello told Rolling Stone last month. “My favorite albums are when I really get to live in a lyric or live in an aesthetic of an album.”
“She is really a complicated, exciting girl, C,XOXO. She really is,” she added.
