Blackpink member Lisa is gearing up to unveil her new solo single, “Rockstar.” Today, the singer shared a 10-second snippet of the song’s music video, which features Lisa strutting through city streets at night and posing in stylish outfits as she croons, “It’s so hype, hype/ Baby I’m a rockstar.” The single, out July 27 at 6 p.m. ET, has a pulsating, club-ready pop vibe.
Earlier this month, Lisa’s management company LLOUD announced “Rockstar” on Instagram posting a cartoonish, electric sound, seemingly teasing the new track. Lisa also recently made a TikTok account, which she has used to tease the new era of music (she gained a million followers in just over 2 hours, setting a Guinness World Record). She posted the “Rockstar” teaser on TikTok as well as on YouTube.
“Rockstar” will mark the first solo release from Lisa since joining DJ Snake, Ozuna, and Megan Thee Stallion on “SG” back in 2021. She also dropped a pair of singles, “Lalisa” and “Money,” that year. (She performed her solo tracks while Blackpink headlined Coachella last year.)
Lisa signed a solo deal with RCA, which was announced in April. Earlier this month, she teased new music on her social media, writing, “Coming soon: Lisa.”
“I’m super excited to be joining the RCA family and I am confident they are the best team to create a bigger movement in my solo career,” Lisa said in April. “Looking forward to showing the world everything we have been preparing.” It was revealed at the time that the deal allows Lisa to retain ownership of her recordings.
Earlier this year, Blackpink decided not to re-sign individually with YG, giving them more control over the directions of their solo careers, including Lisa’s upcoming role in Season Three of The White Lotus.
