Today is Al Roker’s birthday and he has given fans a preview of his birthday dinner with Oprah Winfrey. He’s promised to share some of her wisdom about growing older. The Today meteorologist shared several photos of himself and Oprah enjoying a nice garden BBQ. Here is what he had to say about the experience.
Oprah Winfrey & Al Roker Share A Meal
On August 20, Al Roker turns 70 years old. He’s been counting down to his birthday on social media for several days. Over the weekend, he got his big gift: a private dinner with Oprah Winfrey.
Oprah, who also turned 70 earlier this year, joined Al for a garden BBQ. Photos showed them sitting at a table in a beautiful garden. In the caption, Al Roker wrote, “Talk about a great birthday present. The one and only Oprah shares #lifelessons about turning #70. Still processing the conversation. It was that good.”
Photos showed Oprah and Al clinking their glasses together. Another snapshot showed Al cooking on the grill. In the caption, he revealed that he got to cook for Oprah. In one picture, Oprah poses for a photo with Al, his wife Deborah Roberts, their dog, and son Nicholas.
His birthday dinner with the television legend will air during Tuesday’s episode of Today. It will be part of his on-air birthday celebration.
Deborah Roberts Throws Al A Surprise Birthday Party
The last week or so has been full of birthday celebrations for Al Roker. His wife, Deborah Roberts, threw him an early birthday party last week. Several big names in broadcasting were present. Today‘s Savannah Guthrie was there, along with Gayle King (CBS Mornings) and Robin Roberts (Good Morning America).
His three children were also in attendance. Al’s daughters Courtney and Leila were there, as well as his son Nicholas. The birthday party took place at City Winery in New York City.
Deborah shared several photos from the event. In the caption, she wrote, “Let the birthday countdown begin for Al Roker. We love and appreciate you so much that we simply had to begin celebrating early!! Let’s keep dancing into the next week and your new decade.”
The comment section of the birthday post was star-studded too. Award-winning actress Viola Davis wrote, “Wooooohoooo!!!!! Happiest of birthdays Al!! What a blessed man you are!!” Jenna Bush Hager also chimed in with her birthday wishes. She commented, “So gorgeous! So sorry to miss! Love you both.” Actress and author Holly Robinson Peete wrote, “So awesome! I wish we could’ve been there.”
Al Roker has experienced some fairly serious health issues over the last few years, including blood clots in his legs which nearly killed him. However, it seems like the 70-year-old Today meteorologist is living his best life now.
In May, he told The U.S. Sun, “Everything’s great. Yeah, I feel good. I’ve been getting out, walking, and now the warm weather is coming, so, you know, I mean, we didn’t really have a spring, but that’s okay. It’s all good, it’s all good.”
