Jennie Garth recently revealed that she suffered two miscarriages back to back after marrying Dave Abrams. The Beverly Hills, 90210 alum talked about the losses on her podcast this week. Here is what she had to say.
Jennie Garth Talks About Consecutive Miscarriages
On Tuesday’s episode of the “I Choose Me With Jennie Garth” podcast, the actress spoke about experiencing two consecutive miscarriages after getting married to Dave Abrams.
The couple got hitched in July 2015 and Jennie said they got pregnant “naturally.” She found out she was pregnant the same month they got married.
“We went to a little mini honeymoon to Carmel up in Monterey. And like two weeks later, you were pregnant,” her husband said on the podcast.
“We went to Nancy, your doctor, the gynecologist, and yeah, we were good to go,” he continued. “And then that lasted almost four months. And then, you know, we found out … that there was no heartbeat.”
The 90210 star had to undergo a dilation and curettage (DNC) procedure. “I remember them saying we could just wait and let it work its way,” Jennie said, remembering the ordeal. “And we opted to do the procedure because it was just too much for me to carry a baby that had been terminated.”
At the time, the couple said they thought they weren’t meant to have kids together, but then Jennie Garth fell pregnant again. The second pregnancy was shorter, lasting only about a month and a half. So, she had to go through another DNC procedure.
Her husband said, “And then by that time, I think it had definitely taken an emotional toll which we didn’t know how to communicate. So we kind of just wrapped it up and then other things kind of came in the fold.”
Dave & Jennie Broke Up For A Period Of Time After Pregnancy Loss
Jennie Garth said that she was “ashamed” at the time because she was not able to have a child with her husband. However, she saw Dave being a “wonderful stepdad” to her three daughters from her previous marriage.
All of this had a significant strain on their relationship. Last month, Jennie opened up about undergoing IVF. She revealed that she and Dave had even split up for 10 months after the IVF treatments failed to work.
Dave Abrams eventually filed for a divorce, but he dismissed the case in February 2019. The couple were able to reconcile, realizing that the losses were pulling them down.
Rather than focusing on trying to conceive, they began placing focus on their relationship and spending quality time together.
Unfortunately for Jennie Garth, no baby came for her and Dave Abrams. She has been extremely open about discussing her health and recently shared that she’s going through menopause.
