Kane Brown Sings Alan Jackson and ‘Miles On It’ at AMAs Special

Kane Brown represented the world of country music at the American Music Awards 50th Anniversary Special on Sunday (Oct. 6) as he took the stage to perform. He opted to cover fellow country singer Alan Jackson, as well as sing his own hit “Miles On It.”

He opened his time on stage with a simple yet compelling rendition of Jackson’s “Drive,” sitting in a law chair by the fire with a motorcycle behind him. Brown shared the opening verse and first verse before diving into his collaboration with Marshmello. He worked the rest of the stage and engaged with a very enthusiastic crowd.

Before beginning his performance, Brown was introduced by another country singer, Brad Paisley. Evidently the two share a history. Paisley mentioned that he invited the “Thank God” singer to perform with him in what would be Brown’s first awards show performance.

“I’m proud to say that I invited our next artist to perform with me on his very first awards show and I’m so proud to see the super star he’s become,” Paisley said in his introduction speech.

The moment came in 2017 when the pair sang their collaboration “Heaven South.”

Brown and Paisley were both in attendance at the anniversary special on Sunday however, other country singers like Carrie Underwood and Reba McEntire were there in spirit. Both shared their memories of the American Music Awards in pre-recorded videos.

The American Music Awards 50th Anniversary Special was held at the LA Center Studios in Los Angeles, Calif. on Sunday (Oct. 6). The event celebrated the award show’s rich history of celebrating music of all genres. The two-hour special aired on CBS and streamed on Paramount+.

Kane Brown has built himself quite the career: He’s come a long way since 2015, when he released his first single, “Used to Love You Sober.” Prior to that, Brown was covering other country stars’ songs for social media. Now, he is a star, with nine No. 1 hits under his belt, including a special duet with his wife Katelyn. There’s no ceiling to this Tennessee boy’s success!
