There have been eight episodes of Season 21 of Grey’s Anatomy so why isn’t a new one on this evening? Is it due to the holiday or something else? Furthermore, when will the long-running series return to its regular timeslot on ABC? Keep reading for further details.
Why Isn’t A New Episode Of Grey’s Anatomy On Tonight?
Grey’s Anatomy, like most shows, was shortened for last season. That was due to the writer’s strike which turned into a SAG-AFTRA strike. This left the hit ABC series with just ten episodes so Shonda Rhimes had a lot to make up for in Season 21. One of the biggest twists was that Jo discovered she and Link were not only pregnant but expecting twins. He had no idea how to handle this news and started to think that they would need to buy two of everything including a minivan. Yet, Jo was realizing how much she would change physically.
Regardless, she was excited and ready for what was to come. At the same time, Mika and her sister, Chloe were in a devastating car wreck. Chloe ended up passing away and that led Mika to opt to pack up and leave. This was something that fans knew would be coming but not necessarily how. Watching her wake up and learn Chloe died was one thing and then having her give up was even more heartbreaking. Then, the unexpected happened when Jo and Lucas ran an errand but ended up in the middle of a robbery.
Jo felt she was suffering a problem with her twins and Lucas tried to get the robber to have mercy on them. Lucas does tackle the robber but his gun goes off and Jo is seen bleeding so no one knows who is shot. She did feel like she was bleeding beforehand but fans have said they will riot if she loses her twins. So, why is Grey’s Anatomy not on tonight? Two reasons. First, it is Thanksgiving and the second is November 21st was the midseason finale.
When Will Grey’s Be Back?
As hardcore Grey’s Anatomy fans know, after the midseason finale, the show usually takes months to return. That being said, it is set to come back on Thursday, March 6th so a little over three months from now. Until then, it is streaming on Hulu and Netflix so it can be binged or newcomers can start getting into it from the start. So, what will take its place tonight? The hit Disney movie, Mary Poppins will air instead. Luckily, it will be back and will likely bring even more drama than ever before.
