Dave Marrs Host Of ‘Fixer To Fabulous’ Sued For Home Defects

Dave Marrs, the host of Fixer To Fabulous, is sued by a couple in Bella Vista, Arkansas, for home defects. The couple claims they paid a large amount of money for home upgrades. But once they were finished, the home had serious defects and safety issues. What did Dave Marrs do?

    The McGraths Defected Home

A legal dispute between Matthew and Sarah McGrath and Dave Marrs, host of HGTV’s Fixer To Fabulous, was recently settled days before the trial was set to begin. The McGraths filed a lawsuit in February 2023, claiming their newly built home in Bella Vista, Arkansas, has serious defects, including safety issues with the deck and an improperly installed septic system. The home was constructed by Marrs Construction and Jupiter Rentals, both owned by Dave Marrs, who appears on an HGTV show with his wife, Jenny.

The McGraths alleged that they paid over $10,000 for upgrades to the home, which included changes to the kitchen, adding stairs and a handrail to the deck, installing windows in the garage, and extending hardwood floors into the bedrooms. However, after the home was completed, they discovered several problems. The problems were the deck posing a safety hazard, a septic system that had been installed incorrectly, and other issues that required expensive repairs. The McGraths also claimed that the construction companies failed to honor their contract and fix the problems despite multiple requests.

The Two Companies In A Lawsuit

The lawsuit involved two companies, Marrs Construction and Jupiter Rentals. The McGraths sought to hold them accountable for these alleged issues. The McGraths also accused the companies of not meeting industry standards or following building codes. However, Marrs Construction argued that they had tried to fix the problems, but the Mcgraths refused to allow the repairs.

After multiple rounds of court-ordered mediation that failed, the case was set to go to trial in September 2024. However, a series of delays, including a request from the McGraths to push back deadlines. Due to the aftermath of Memorial Day tornadoes in Benton County. The trial was delayed til January 2025. The case was also complicated by a filing from the McGraths lawyer, Tim Watson, stating that the Marrs family had failed to provide expert testimony to refute claims about building code violations and industry standards.

Just days before the trial was supposed to start, both parties reached a settlement. A court filing confirmed that all claims had been fully compromised through the settlement, meaning the lawsuit was dismissed. The terms of the settlement were not disclosed, and neither the McGraths nor the Marrs family commented publicly on the resolution. This is not the first legal issue the Marrs Construction company has faced. The company was also sued by a couple in 2021 for similar issues with home construction.
