Cape Fear Series Adds Patrick Wilson to Cast

Apple TV+’s “Cape Fear“ series adaptation has just added another familiar face to its cast. Variety reports that The Conjuring and Insidious franchise stalwart Patrick Wilson has joined the series.

The 10-episode series hails from “Channel Zero“ creator  Nick Antosca, who serves as showrunner, writer, and executive producer.

The official logline reads, “A storm is coming for happily married attorneys Anna and Tom Bowden when Max Cady, a notorious killer from their past, gets out of prison.“ Apple describes their series as “a tense, contemporary thriller that examines America’s obsession with true crime in the 21st century. In it, a storm is coming for a pair of married attorneys when an infamous killer from their past gets released after years in prison.”

It was previously confirmed that star Amy Adams will play Anna Bowden, and Javier Bardem is set to play unsettling villain Max Cady. Wilson’s role in the upcoming series has yet to be disclosed, though he could potentially play Anna’s husband, Tom Bowden.

Antosca, who reportedly brought the project to Universal as a huge fan of the movies since childhood, previously created the shows “Channel Zero,” “A Friend of the Family,” “The Act“ and “Brand New Cherry Flavor.“ He also worked on “Hannibal“ and “Chucky.”

Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg executive produce the series based on both John D. MacDonald’s 1957 novel The Executioners, which was adapted into 1962’s Cape Fear starring Gregory Peck, and Scorsese’s 1991 remake with Robert De Niro.

The new series is being produced by UCP and Amblin Television. Adass and Bardem are also executive producers alongside Antosca, Alex Hedlund for Eat The Cat, and Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey for Amblin Television.

With key roles still yet to be filled, including details for Wilson’s character, expect to hear a lot more about “Cape Fear” soon.
