    Weapons

First up, Zach Cregger’s (Barbarian) new horror movie Weapons is now playing in theaters!

Weapons has been compared to PTA’s Magnolia and described as an epic tale that’s both unconventionally structured and “really fucked up” (Cregger’s own words).

In Weapons, “When all but one child from the same class mysteriously vanish on the same night at exactly the same time, a community is left questioning who or what is behind their disappearance.” Dive deeper into the mystery on MaybrookMissing.com.

The cast for Cregger’s new film includes Josh Brolin (Dune 2), Julia Garner (The Royal Hotel), Alden Ehrenreich (Cocaine Bear), Benedict Wong (3 Body Problem), Amy Madigan (Antlers), Austin Abrams (Euphoria), and Cary Christopher (Days of Our Lives).

Family demands sacrifice in Birthrite, and the folk horror movie is now available on VOD.

“When a pregnant woman is bequeathed a home from an estranged aunt, she and her girlfriend leave the city behind to begin a new chapter. But when a karmic debt threatens the life of their unborn child, they soon discover their place in the cursed history of the town.”

Ross Partridge directs from a script by Patch Darragh and Erin Gann. Alice Kremelberg (“The Sinner”), Juani Feliz (Civil War), Michael Chernus (“Severance”), Jennifer Lafleur (Nope), Henny Russell (“Orange Is the New Black”), and Owen Campbell (X) star.

Strange Harvest Review - Strange Harvest Trailer featuring masked Mr. Shiny

A serial killer’s grisly murder spree might lead to supernatural terror in the faux-true crime documentary Strange Harvest from Grave Encounters writer-director Stuart Ortiz.

Saban Films and Roadside Attractions released the film in theaters today.

In Strange Harvest, “Detectives are thrust into a chilling hunt for ‘Mr. Shiny’—a sadistic serial killer from the past whose return marks the beginning of a new wave of grotesque, otherworldly crimes tied to a dark cosmic force.”

Peter Zizzo and Terri Apple star as Detectives Joe Kirby and Lexi Taylor, who act as talking heads as they investigate the mysterious and elusive “Mr. Shiny,” a serial killer who leaves little in the way of clues despite the ghastly, horrific nature of his crimes.

Andy Lauer, Matthew Peschio, Janna Cardia, Travis Wolfe Sr., and Christina Helene Braa also star. Ortiz, Bruce Guido, Alex Yesilcimen, and Michael Karlin produce.

From Well Go USA Entertainment, possession movie Shaman is now available on Digital.

The horror film follows a missionary (Sara Canning) as she and her husband (Daniel Gillies) seek to convert an Indigenous community in a remote Ecuadorian village.

“After a confrontation with the local shaman whose beliefs clash with her own, the missionary’s son (Jett Klyne) is seemingly possessed by an ancient spirit.

“Forced to confront her faith and a demon older than her own religion, she must make an impossible choice that could either save her son or curse their souls.”

Humberto Morales and Alejandro Fajardo also star in Shaman. The rated “R” horror movie from Well Go USA is written by Daniel Negret, directed by Antonio Negret.

A plane crash survival movie reveals itself to be a science fiction thriller in The Occupant starring Ella Balinska (“Resident Evil”) and Rob Delaney (“Dying for Sex”).

The film from director Hugo Keijzer hit theaters and Digital today from DECAL.

In The Occupant, “Desperate to save her sister, Abby (Ella Balinska) takes a dangerous job in the remote Georgian wilderness. Stranded in the mountains after her helicopter crashes, she finds hope through John (Rob Delaney), a mysterious helper radioing from nearby.

“As he guides her through the harsh conditions, Abby struggles to survive, and her grip on reality falters until she is faced with an impossible choice.”

Stuart Graham (Hunger) and Vanessa Ifediora (Rose’s War) also star.

A young woman seeking glory in the deadly sport of bullfighting find herself trapped in a body horror nightmare in Animale, which was ranked by Bloody Disgusting as one of the Top 10 Best International Horror Films of 2024. The film is now available on U.S. VOD today.

In the Camargue region of the South of France, there remains an infamous, long-standing tradition of bullfighting. Local youths participate in the elegant yet dangerous challenge, practicing a modernized version of the sport that seeks not to kill the animals but rather to showcase agility and dominance.

Among them is Nejma, an intrepid 22-year-old with dreams of one day winning the annual competition. The only woman working on the cattle ranch, she trains tirelessly to prove herself equal among the men, both in and outside of the arena.

The ranchers share a deep respect for the bulls, though when a loose bull threatens the community of riders and young men begin turning up dead, a hunt to find and kill the creature begins. Nejma fears for the bull, beginning a dark, mysterious transformation of her own.

The French body horror movie was written and directed by Emma Benestan.

Oulaya Amamra, Damien Rebattel, Vivien Rodriguez, Claude Chaballier, Elies-Morgan Admi-Bensellam, Pierre Roux, Marinette Rafai, and Renaud Vinuesa star.

The filmmaking debut of UFC fighter Keith Jardine, psychological time loop thriller Kill Me Again opened in select theaters today while also being released at home on Digital outlets.

Kill Me Again starring Brendan Fehr (Final Destination) asks the question, what if you kept reliving the same disturbing night over and over—until you finally got the ending right?

“Charlie (Fehr), a notorious serial killer known as the `Midnight Mangler,’ finds himself trapped reliving the same violent night at a roadside diner.

“Initially embracing his grisly urges, Charlie soon becomes desperate to escape the endless nightmare. As the bodies pile up and sanity unravels, he’ll try anything to break the cycle.”

Deep in the south, a storm is coming – but there is no escape from sin in Death Letter Blues. The supernatural mystery thriller hit select theaters and VOD today from Dark Sky Films.

“A small town is rattled by the sudden and mysterious death of Feral Boy, a local legend since his discovery in the woods as a child. Father Moss, a priest with a loose grip on the faith, attempts to counsel the forlorn couple that raised the boy. He soon uncovers haunting parallels between this grisly incident and his own recurring nightmares.”

Sherman Augustus (“Stranger Things,” Virus) stars in the horror film alongside Karole Foreman, Ramsay Midwood, Arianna Ngnomire, and Keylor Leigh.

Strack Azar and Michael Stevantoni co-write and co-direct.
