Meet Bloody Disgusting at Midsummer Scream in Long Beach This Weekend!

Like your favorite movie maniac — Michael, Freddy, Jason, Art, take your pick — Bloody Disgusting is everywhere and always watching. Earlier this month, we attended Chicago’s Flashback Weekend, and now we’re tossing on our Wayfarers to stave off the sun at Midsummer Scream in Long Beach, CA.

It all goes down this weekend at the Long Beach Convention Center from August 15 – 17.

Bloody Disgusting will be debuting its massive new booth, where you can meet the staff, grab a trick or treat bag filled with goodies, and even pick up exclusive merchandise. We’ll also have photo ops, free podcast merch, and a number of giveaways courtesy of Street Food Cinema — including tickets to see Evil Dead In Concert this Halloween in Los Angeles!

::Stu voice:: BUT WAIT, THERE’S MORE…

On Saturday, August 16th, Bloody Disgusting will be moderating the panel BLOODLINES: The Evolution, Psychology, and Legacy of Gore in Horror Cinema. Presented by Storm King Comics, the panel will cover the latex-heavy ’80s to the slick effects of the 2000s to the raw brutality of Terrifier, pulling the thread on how gore isn’t just for shock but a tool of expression, rebellion, and empathy.

Guests include Greg Nicotero, executive producer of The Walking Dead franchise; Nick Castle, film director; and Sandy King Carpenter, founder of Storm King Comics. Shelby Novak of Scare You to Sleep and Michael Roffman, Executive Director of Business Development at Bloody Disgusting will moderate the panel, which will be recorded and released as a podcast later on.

Midsummer Scream is the world’s largest Halloween and Horror Convention, often described as Southern California’s kick-off of the Halloween season. The event features previews from local haunted attractions and Halloween events of their fall plans, celebrity guests from the worlds of spooky and horror film, TV, and video games, hundreds of vendors to shop from, and live entertainment across multiple stages, and the Hall of Shadows: a massive hall filled with haunted walk-thrus and displays set up just for the weekend, showcasing the talents of SoCal’s best pro and home haunters.

That hall includes the latest sick activations by our buddies at Thirteenth Floor in collaboration with Lionsgate!

Other guests attending this year’s Midsummer Scream include John Carpenter, Cassandra Peterson, David Howard Thornton, Darcy the Mail Girl, Joe Bob Briggs, David Dastmalchian, Linda Blair, Henry Winkler, PJ Soles, Tommy Lee Wallace, and the list goes on. There will also be live panels featuring The Last Podcast on the Left and Ghost Files.

Grab your tickets and learn more over at Midsummer Scream’s official website.

And don’t forget to come and say hello to Team Bloody Disgusting!
