When it comes to any new TV series, there’s usually one character left underused in the first season, and that certainly happened in High Potential, as Daphne was the one who arguably got the short end of the stick.
However, in the High Potential Season 1 finale, Daphne proved that she was more than just a young detective.
She worked out clues that nobody else could, making it possible for everyone to figure out exactly where The Game Maker took Oz.

Without Daphne, the team wouldn’t have made it to Oz in time, and Daphne’s CPR wouldn’t have worked, ending the first season of High Potential in a heartbreaking way.
More Daphne, Please
It’s time for High Potential Season 2 to utilize Daphne more throughout the cases.
While she doesn’t have HPI like Morgan, it doesn’t mean that she can’t think outside the box at times, and it doesn’t mean that she can’t work the clues that are on the board.
Morgan has already proven that she doesn’t see everything, and she can often get fixated on one piece of the puzzle.
Daphne can look at multiple things at a time, so while Morgan fixates on one piece and racks her brain, Daphne can run with an idea.

This is a great way to showcase what Daphne is capable of, and the more she does it, the more she can become someone the LAPD and Morgan can rely on.
We could even see Morgan turning to Daphne for some ideas, as she sees how amazing she is.
More Backstory for Daphne
On top of that, we need to learn more about Daphne in High Potential Season 2.
There is nothing we know about her personal life, but we do know that in her career, she strives to emulate Captain Soto.

This is great, but there has to be more to her life.
In High Potential Season 1, she noticed a missing lollipop from her desk, making it clear that she pays close attention to detail, and there can be a story around this.
Most people pay close attention to detail for a reason, usually because things happened in their lives.
It could be due to a need to control a situation because she didn’t receive it in her childhood, or it could be because things went missing due to her siblings or parents.
Either way, there’s a backstory available there, and it’s time for that to be explored.
There’s even a possibility of a love interest, and there are plenty of High Potential fans interested in a Daphne/Oz ship.

Even if there isn’t a romance, simply showing that Daphne has friends or a family outside of work would do the trick.
It would further expand who she is as a character and what she likes.
With the sophomore season getting more episodes than the first, there is a chance for that to happen.
Plenty More Career Growth
We know that Daphne aspires to be like Captain Soto, and this opens up numerous opportunities for her career growth.
Right now, she’s just a junior detective, which means she has a lot to learn.

Since we didn’t see her make many mistakes in the first season, it’s time for Daphne to make a couple in the second season, as this offers a chance to explore her personality when she gets something wrong.
People act differently under pressure than they do when they’re calm, and we’ve seen that Daphne can handle the pressure, but can she handle the pressure of mistakes?
She strikes me as someone who would run a mistake over and over again in her head, trying to see where she went wrong and how she could prevent it in the future.
While this makes for a good detective, it can also hinder her, and this is where her personality and career growth can come from, as it offers a chance for Karadec or Soto to offer her a few pieces of advice.

Overall, Daphne was the character who had the least growth.
She was primarily there to interview people, but as the finale showed, there is more to her character. High Potential Season 2 owes her the chance to grow further.
While High Potential Season 2 may not get a traditional full-season order, it’s going to get more episodes than the first, and that means time and space for multiple characters to breathe.
