Why Scarlett Johansson Says ‘Saturday Night Live’ Finale Was So “Special” for Her (Exclusive)
Saturday Night Live is losing another one of its beloved stars.
Longtime castmember Ego Nwodim announced she is leaving NBC’s iconic late night sketch show after seven seasons.
“The hardest part of a great party is knowing when to say goodnight,” the comedian wrote in her Instagram Stories Sept. 12. “But after seven unforgettable seasons, I have decided to leave SNL.”
“I am immensely grateful to Lorne [Michaels] for the opportunity, to my castmates, the writers, and the crew for their brilliance, support, and friendship,” Nwodim continued. “Week after week on that stage taught me more than I could have ever imagined, and I will carry those memories, and that laughter, with me always.”
And in true Nwodim fashion, the 37-year-old concluded her message with a joke: “Now invite me to your weddings please!”
Nwodim is the fifth SNL costar to recently announce their departure as part of season 51’s major cast shakeup.
