Why Isn’t ‘The Golden Bachelor’ On?

Fans recently saw The Golden Bachelor return for a whole new season. That said, viewers looking to repeat the routine might be in for a surprise. A few changes are happening for The Golden Bachelor, as well as the ABC lineup.

Bachelor Nation Fans Recently Saw The Golden Bachelor Return On September 24, 2025

The Golden Bachelor is a spin-off of The Bachelor with seniors as the contestants. This Bachelor Nation series premiered on ABC back in 2023.

Since then, the show has spawned a few international versions. The show has also received a sister-series, The Golden Bachelorette.

Fans recently saw The Golden Bachelor return for a second season on September 24, 2025. This time, retired football player Mel Owens serves as the series lead.

On October 1, 2025, viewers tuning into The Golden Bachelor as usual might not get to see the show. However, this is due to a change in the line-up.

Two series are set to return on ABC. These are the comedies, Shifting Gears and Abbott Elementary. They are each returning for Season 2 and Season 5, respectively. Thanks to this premiere, The Golden Bachelor will have a new time slot.

Fans Can Also Expect A Different Run-Time Compared To The Season’s Premiere

Last week, The Golden Bachelor premiered its second season at around 8 PM ET/7 PM CST. However, this week, the show will air an hour later at 9 PM ET/8 PM CST. This will air after two half-hour episodes each from ABC’s two comedies.

This isn’t the only change fans can expect from The Golden Bachelor. The episode will only run for around an hour. Last week, fans got to enjoy a two-hour premiere. While things could change later in the season, for the time being, it appears that the hour-long format seems to be the show’s new standard for the time being. Despite Season 2’s premiere, one-hour episodes were also standard during the show’s first season until around the last two episodes.

Many fans are likely planning to watch the show on television as it airs. However, the show will also be available for streaming through ABC.com or by using the ABC app. As noted by The Golden Bachelor‘s Instagram page, the series is also available for streaming on Hulu.

Are you excited for the second season of The Golden Bachelor? Are you going to watch the new episode on television or are you planning on streaming it? What do you think of this season so far? Are you also planning on watching Shifting Gears and Abbott Elementary? Make sure you come back to TV Shows Ace for all the latest reality TV and celebrity news.
