Shania Twain’s Album ‘Little Miss Twain’ Pays Tribute to Her Mom

Shania Twain is taking fans on a trip down memory lane with her new album Little Miss Twain. And while she hopes to share a part of her they may not be familiar with, the project is also a love letter to the woman who made everything happen for her: Her mom.

Shania Twain Will Pay Tribute to Her Mom on New Album Little Miss Twain

They call Nashville a “10-year town,” meaning it will take about a decade to get any traction in the music business. Like so many artists chasing this dream, Twain’s success took some time.

It was her mother who continued to push her through every one of those early years.

“It’s also in homage to my mother,” the country veteran tells Apple Music. “Because my mother, when I was a child she was my promoter, my marketing agent, my booking agent, my manager, my driver, you know?”

“Without her, I would not have gotten on the stage,” she continues. “And she did not get to see any of my success.”

Twain’s mother, Sharon, passed away years before she signed her first record deal.

How Did Shania Twain’s Mother Die?

Both Twain’s mother and stepfather, Jerry, died tragically in a car accident in 1987. The country singer was 22 years old at the the time and taking computer programming classes as a backup plan, just in case music didn’t work out.

“My sister had called me and told me that they died in a car accident,” she recounted in an interview on the Making Space with Hoda Kotb podcast in 2023.

“I just, you know, I fell apart totally, just in shock for days,” she recalled. “And I just couldn’t let go of them.”

The tragedy left Twain and her younger sister to care for their brothers, who were young teenagers at the time.

Will Twain’s New Album Little Miss Twain Dive Into Her Personal Hardships?

While the country hitmaker has revealed that her album will be deeply personal, she has yet to divulge how deep she will go. Whether there will be a song about her parents’ death or the abuse she suffered as a child has yet to be seen.

Twain is, however, ready to peel back the layers of her life and share with her fans how she became who she is today.

“They don’t know anything about my early build up to that fame and those hits,” she tells Apple Music. “So I wanted to give them insight on who I am, where I came from and how it all began.”
