Anything can happen on live television. Today host Jenna Bush Hager was left in disbelief after a huge blunder during the live broadcast. She called out the crew for the major mistake. Keep reading to find out what happened.
Jenna Bush Hager Blasts Crew For On-Air Blunder
Jenna Bush Hager joined the Today Show in 2009 as a correspondent. She worked her way up through the ranks and was named co-host of the show’s fourth hour alongside Hoda Kotb in 2019. When Hoda left the show in 2025, Jenna became the lead anchor. After nearly a year of guest hosts, Sheinelle Jones became her permanent co-host in early 2026.

After years of working on live television, Jenna Bush Hager has seen it all. Or so she thought. The Today with Jenna & Sheinelle hosts were shocked on Wednesday’s show to enter a near-empty studio. Only one crew member, Rainy, was on set when the hosts sat to start the show.
“She’s a good cheerleader and she’s clapping,” Jenna told the audience as the camera panned to Rainy standing alone in the darkened studio. Other crew members slowly made their way to the set, including Jenna and Sheinelle’s boss.
Jenna Bush Hager was so out of sorts by the chaotic start to the show that she mistakenly said it was Tuesday. She quickly corrected herself. The hosts got another surprise when they spotted their colleague off-camera.

Craig Melvin Makes Surprise Appearance
After correcting herself on the day of the week, Jenna Bush Hager began to discuss her wardrobe with Sheinelle Jones. But as she was speaking, she noticed a co-worker off-camera and got distracted.
Craig Melvin was lurking around the set after wrapping up hosting the show’s third hour. Jenna Bush Hager encouraged him to join them on-camera. But she quickly shooed him away after sharing an embarrassing story of him seeing her in cut-off shorts and a tank top earlier that morning. She had forgotten her clothes at the gym and put on what she could find. Craig Melvin joked that it was like a Saturday night outfit, prompting Jenna Bush Hager to tell him to leave the set.
She then launched into a discussion about their capsule collection wardrobe. The Today show hosts have limited wardrobe options of mix-and-match pieces. Sheinelle Jones and Jenna Bush Hager agreed that they loved it because it made choosing an outfit easier.
The hosts then launched into a discussion about Tom Holland and Zendaya’s red carpet looks this week during promotion for their upcoming Spider-Man movies. Tom Holland recently confirmed rumors that the co-stars and real-life couple are married.
The Today Show hosts were thrown off a little by the crew’s late arrival to the set. However, they handled it as best they could. Share your reaction in the comments.
