TLC has just been alerted to molestation allegations surrounding Sister Wives, and they are less than thrilled. In fact, they are terrified as to how this will affect them and the show, leading them to wonder what is next. Keep reading for more details on what the network is saying.
TLC Has Been Here Before
This is not the first time that TLC has been under fire for a molestation situation. Josh Duggar of 19 Kids and Counting was in the hot seat for things he had done to his sisters and a babysitter. Then, he was arrested for possessing child pornography. That was when TLC axed the spinoff, Counting On, which followed the Duggar children and their families. Now, they are facing a similar situation with Sister Wives, but are seemingly going about it in a horrible way.
Recently, Kody Brown and Christine Brown Woolley’s daughter, Mykelti, opened up about being molested. It happened when she was little and was done by a young neighbor. However, when she told her parents what happened, she was punished. They had a strict no-tattling policy, even if they were in danger. When Robyn Brown came along, she comforted Mykelti and shamed the parents. Moreover, she encouraged the Browns to get Mykelti help. Yet, after she came clean on a recent podcast, TLC did not care for what the Sister Wives star had done.
She left the podcast feeling really great about it. Unfortunately, TLC is terrified about the backlash, as the mother of three revealed on her Patreon:
“Here’s the bad part though: the show, the powers that be, the network, TLC, whatever, essentially got wind through these articles [written about my interview], and now [my husband] Tony and I are under a microscope. Because they’re like, ‘OK, this makes us look bad. We don’t look good. This could hurt our reputation. We need to protect ourselves.’”
Blame Game
Mykelti Brown Padron went on to blame the press for what they did and why TLC got mad at her. She feels that they took the podcast interview and spun it into what they wanted. However, the Sister Wives star willingly spoke about what she wanted, and that was what was reported on. At the same time, TLC could have ignored the articles and listened to the podcast, which they may have done. Should she be shamed for what she said or discussed? Absolutely not, but fans felt that she likes to be in the spotlight, no matter what the topic is:
- “I was on a TLC reality show about my family for years and the show had many controversial moments discussed at length in the media but I had no idea admitting I was harmed in this way would gain media attention.” What?
- Stay off social media if you don’t want to be criticized. Live your life, and stop begging for attention.
