Sara Bareilles is a Grammy-winning singer and songwriter. She composed the Broadway musical Waitress and also starred in the production. In an unexpected confession, she admitted stealing from beloved CNN host Anderson Cooper. Keep reading for all the details.
Sara Bareilles Admits Stealing From Anderson Cooper
Sara Bareilles is the last celebrity you’d think would steal from you. But she did. She admitted that she stole something huge from CNN host Anderson Cooper.

The singer releases her seventh studio album this summer. She played the lead single, “Home,” for Anderson Cooper on his podcast in March, three months before it was officially released as a single. The performance brought the beloved newscaster to tears.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, Sara Bareilles admitted that she stole the song from Anderson Cooper. Or, at least, the inspiration for the song. And no, she doesn’t plan to give him writing credits, joking that he has enough money.
Her new album, Good Grief, is about loss, and “Home” is central to the theme of the album. Sara Bareilles was inspired by Anderson Cooper and Stephen Colbert to write the song. They discussed their personal losses on a podcast in 2022.
“He had this incredible conversation with Stephen Colbert. It’s these two men that I really love, and their tenderness with each other and about their loss was so moving to me,” she told Rolling Stone.

“Stephen lost his father and two brothers in a plane crash when he was 10 years old. And he talks about his father being 53, and how profound the day was for him the day he turned a day older than his father ever got to be,” Sara Bareilles added.
His Future At CNN In Doubt Amid Takeover
Anderson Cooper has been delivering the news on CNN since 2001. He also did stories for 60 Minutes. However, he left the CBS news program in May. He said he wanted to spend more time with his children. But the behind-the-scenes chaos at CBS may have played a role in his decision.
The CBS News division underwent major changes after Bari Weiss took over as editor-in-chief. Some of the network’s top-billed anchors left or were fired in the shakeup. Anderson Cooper reportedly turned down a huge paycheck to stay with 60 Minutes.
CBS and CNN might soon have the same owner. Paramount is on the verge of merging with Warner Bros., CNN’s parent company. The move could put Bari Weiss in charge of CNN. Anderson Cooper reportedly won’t stay at the network if she takes over. He might need that songwriting credit after all.
