Is Alan Bersten a better pro partner for Dancing With the Stars contestant Jenna Dewan than Val Chmerkovskiy? Val had to sit out Dedication Week due to controversial comments he made toward Carrie Ann Inaba on social media. Therefore, Alan came in as his replacement, but did he fit in better? Keep reading for more details.
Alan Was Proud To Dance With Jenna Dewan
When Val Chmerkovskiy overstepped, went on social media, and made a threatening remark toward judge Carrie Ann Inaba. He disagreed with a critique she made and took it to another level. However, he quickly saw this was inappropriate and could put his job as a DWTS pro in jeopardy, so he deleted his post and apologized. Val was suspended for a week. This meant that an ousted pro had to fill in for him with his partner, Jenna Dewan. Enter Alan Bersten, who had previously danced with Giada De Laurentiis, but was voted off early on

There was a lot of drama leading up to Alan and Jenna’s dance. However, they executed it flawlessly, and he was thrilled to be there for her. He wanted to help her shine under such intense circumstances, and it worked, as they ended up with a 37 out of 40. This was incredible, with viewers believing that Jenna dances better with Alan than she does with Val. One noted that Val always showcases himself, whereas Alan showcases Jenna.
Immediately, DWTS viewers chimed in with their thoughts on the chemistry between Jenna Dewan and Alan Bersten. One even pointed out how Carrie Ann gave them a “10,” believing that was an intentional dig:
- Alan should sub in for the rest of the season. Val isn’t a good fit for Jenna. Jenna shined tonight with Alan.
- First thing I said was she looks relaxed…. I at better connection
Puzzle Pieces
Keep in mind, there is still love for Val Chmerkovskiy as a DWTS pro. They think he is a great dancer, but after seeing him dance with Jenna Dewan and then Alan Bersten fill in, there was a noticeable difference. Jenna appeared far more relaxed while she and Alan gelled in a way that she hasn’t with Val. Furthermore, they evoked emotions from the audience that have yet to happen with Val:
- Yes! As soon as they started dancing, I said to my husband “she should’ve been with Alan from the beginning. She’s actually shining”
- it felt like Jenna didnt have to compete with her partner for the spotlight this week. I loved it.
- I actually felt a connection with her for the first time. And I love Jenna from Step Up to the Rookie. But this dance wowed me so much to see her open up, Alan made her shine

It will be interesting if DWTS takes this feedback and decides to keep Jenna Dewan with Alan Bersten for the rest of the season.
