StudioCanal’s Sixth Dimension is entering an alien dimension with a feature film adaptation of the sci-fi horror game The Headliners, reports Variety.
The game “puts up to eight players in the roles of journalists who must capture photos of an alien-infested New York. As the only people allowed in the city, the objective is to capture front-page-worthy snaps while avoiding dismemberment at the hands of extraterrestrial invaders.”
And you think your job sucks.
I haven’t played The Headliners, but it sounds like it’s in the vein of Fatal Frame or Pokémon Snap, but with aliens. I need that in my life.
At this time, we don’t have any plot details for the film.
Developed by Lucas Bouyoux and Bruno Grégoire, the game debuted in 2025 via Kafi Games, going on to sell well over one million copies.
Said Jed Benedict, head of Sixth Dimension, “In a world where attention is currency, Kafi Games’ indie smash The Headliners struck us, along with millions of giddy gamers, as a hilarious and unique entry point into the alien invasion genre. As if Cloverfield met Ghostbusters via Nightcrawler, we aim to take Kafi Games’ brilliantly original survival-horror game and watch the mayhem unfold through the cameras of the journalists who risk everything, life and limb, for the perfect shot.”
I’m sorry, a blend of Cloverfield, Ghostbusters, and Nightcrawler? I need this in my eyeballs now. All three are bangers, so if The Headliners can capture even a small part of what makes those films work, this should be a great time at the movies.
Sixth Dimension is the same studio that had a hand in the Silent Night, Deadly Night reboot, so if nothing else, expect a wild swing with this one.
