Bill Maher Has Been Hosting His HBO Real Time Series Since 2003
Maher is a television host and political commentator. From 1993 to 2002, he hosted Politically Incorrect for ABC and Comedy Central. Back in 2003, he started hosting Real Time with Bill Maher since 2003. He has also hosted the Club Random podcast since 2022.
Maher has had a complicated history with President Donald Trump. He has dined with the president at the White House twice during his second administration. However, he has often criticized him on his show, with the president also criticizing Maher through his Truth Social social media platform.
Recently, Trump called out former White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt’s recent guest spot on Real Time. The exchange between the two appeared to be cordial during the October 23 episode. This was a stark contrast to a previous episode, in which Maher criticized Leavitt for justifying Trump’s infamous “Quiet, piggy!” comment directed as a Bloomberg News reporter.
As Trump shared, “Let’s talk about this COMPLETE AND TOTAL LOSER, Bill Maher. He’s got a Low Rated Show on equally Low Rated HBO, which was once, long ago, a Network of Quality and Excitement – But that’s all gone. It’s not ‘HOT’ anymore!”
Trump Shared Mixed Feelings Over Karoline Leavitt’s Appearance On The Show
The president then referenced Maher’s acquaintance, film producer Chuck Labella, with whom Trump worked with on The Apprentice. He claimed that Chuck told him that Maher “‘loves’ and respects” him and “would constantly ask” before he had started his presidency.
Trump also claimed that he consented to meet Bill, but declined to appear on his show. The president also alleged that this was something that Bill had “desperately” wanted.
Trump shared that he has watched Maher’s show, claiming that it “always ends with dishonesty” when it concerns him. He also claimed that Maher was “not a nice guy, and what he spouts isn’t what he believes. He has to cater to his base, which is mostly composed of Losers, and people who don’t like working.”
The president also denied claims that he was trying to build a White House swimming pool, which had been shared on the show. However, Trump also shared mixed feelings concerning Leavitt herself: “Karoline Leavitt was GREAT on the show, but she started with a biased, dumb SLEAZEBAG, asking questions. She defended me, and herself, so well, but couldn’t be comfortable going against Lie after Lie.”
