This Hulu original does not want to leave the top 10 charts. We love to see it because we are here for women-led films in the genre 24/7. So we’re happy that the #1 thriller today is Boston Strangler.
Synopsis
Loretta McLaughlin was the reporter who first connected the murders and broke the story of the Boston Strangler. She and Jean Cole challenged the sexism of the early 1960s to report on the city’s most notorious serial killer.

Boston Strangler was written and directed by Matt Ruskin. It stars Keira Knightley, Carrie Coon, Chris Cooper, David Dastmalchian, and Alessandro Nivola.
It dropped on Hulu in March and has been keeping people up at night ever since. It’s inspired by true events. However, this version of the story sheds light on the women who cracked the case.
Many viewers were blown away by the acting and cinematography. However, lots of people have been running to Twitter to talk about violence toward women. They are also wondering how this is the first time they’re hearing about the women behind the case.

The Boston Strangler movie on Hulu is very well done. For most of the 2nd act, the reporters are trying to connect victims by figuring out what men in their life may have wanted to hurt them — an alarming glimpse into how common for women to have stalkers, creeps, and abusers

My fourth new film of the weekend eschews typical true crime serial killer aesthetics to make a grander point about violence against women. While not perfect I recommend catching Boston Strangler which is on Disney+ in Canada and Hulu in the US. pic.twitter.com/lJc8MZ5p3z
