From Brat Summer to Hot Girl Summer: Megan Thee Stallion will join Vice President Kamala Harris during a rally in Atlanta on Tuesday. The rap star will join Harris for a “special performance” as the vice president hits the campaign trail in Georgia, a source confirmed to Rolling Stone Monday.
Shortly after the announcement, Megan promoted her upcoming appearance on Instagram, writing, “ATL HOTTIES SEE YOU TOMORROW,” and listed the performance for 7:30 p.m. ET on Tuesday.
Harris’ Georgia arrival will mark her first visit to the state since President Joe Biden ended his reelection campaign and endorsed Harris to be the Democratic Party’s nominee for president.
This also won’t be the first time the Houston-born rapper and Harris link up. The “Mamushi” rapper visited the vice president’s mansion during a Women’s History Month event in mid-March.
The vice president’s election campaign has been tapping into the Gen Z electorate as videos of Harris — including the “coconut tree” meme — have gone viral across social media platforms. Harris even joined TikTok last week, and over the weekend, she made a video with Lance Bass, playing on *NSYNC’s “Bye Bye Bye.”
Harris’ campaign team also played into Charli XCX’s Brat Summer by changing their X header to the chartreuse aesthetic of the British singer’s album. After clips of Harris to the beat of Charli XCX’s album Brat went viral, the singer declared on X, “Kamala IS brat.” Harris’ X account then followed Charli on the platform.
“Our job as a campaign is to break through the noise and make sure we’re talking to voters wherever they are — TikTok is one of those landscapes, and we’re leaving no stone unturned,” deputy campaign manager Rob Flaherty previously told People.
Harris has received numerous endorsements from musicians, including Megan’s friend and “WAP” collaborator Cardi B, who has defended the presumptive Democratic nominee against misogynistic hate.
After Harris announced her run, Lil Nas X, Megan’s “Dolla Sign Slime” collaborator, also wrote, “Lock in lil bro @KamalaHarris!”
