Mailman’s Final Day of 24-Year Route Is Making Everyone Cry

Cozy up to your screen and get ready for some good tears to make tracks down your cheeks.

Bill Buda, who had the same 12.2 mile mail route for 24 years, decided to call it a career. Little did he know that his final day would be celebrated by almost everyone who he has ever delivered mail to.

In a viral video, filmed by his daughter, Buda narrates his whole career as a postman, with it all culminating on his final epic day of his 12.2-mile route.

It begins with Buda saying that “a lot of people say, ‘What a piece-of-cake job, I can do that. It’s just putting letters in a mailbox.’ They have no idea that you’re peeking in on your elderly. Checking if that garage door should be shut when the kids get off of school, and for some reason it’s open.”

Buda then describes how he has been on the same route for 24 years. He walked the same 12.2 miles every single day.

He has seen things like a sign show up on someone’s front yard saying “Congrats, We Had a Boy.” Then next thing you know, it’s a “Congratulations, I Graduated From High School” sign. Then a “Congratulations, I Just Graduated From College” sign.

Buda said, “Those whole things you watch from start to finish, unforgettable.” He described all of the little things that impacted his life on that mail route, like taking a moment out of the day to draw with the kids on the sidewalk with sidewalk chalk.

Buda was shocked to see that on his last day, people came out in droves to celebrate him. People had yard signs up congratulating him on his retirement, while others set up tents in their driveway and tailgated and waited for him to come by.

It all ended with Buda and his family celebrating as he exited the post office for the final time, after parking the mail truck and putting everything away.

23 Country Stars With Their Own Bars + Restaurants

Of all of the side hustles country artists could partake in, opening a bar or restaurant is the most fitting — and very common. After all, many of these stars got their start on a barstool, tip jar nearby, playing their music for anyone who would listen.

These places feel like home for many of these singers. Over the years, several artists have gotten into the bar or restaurant game, and for a select few, brands have turned into franchises with several locations and/or concepts — we’re looking at you, Jimmy Buffett!

Let’s take a look at the country star food and entertainment venues that have opened over the years.

13 Country Stars Whose Kids We Never See

For every country artist that invites the world to see their kids, there is one who would rather you focus on the back of his head. These 13 country artists are quietly (or in one case, not) private when it comes to their kids. That means very few pictures and short responses if asked about them.

‘Duck Dynasty’: What Happened to the Kids?

Duck Dynasty was centered on the lives of Willie, Si, Phil and Jase Robertson, but their respective children and grandchildren became breakout stars, too. Here is what each of the Dynasty children have been up to since the A&E reality show ended in 2017. There are marriages, career achievements and babies — so many babies.
