Wendy Williams and Her Niece Alex Finnie Allege “Guardian Abuse”
Along with her allegation of a life of isolation, Wendy and her niece expressed concerns about the New Jersey native’s access to proper healthcare and “basic necessities.”
“My aunt hasn’t had, from what I understand, a medical evaluation to see if her rights can be restored,” Alex shared, adding that Sabrina “has made it difficult every which way for my aunt to be able to live any sort of healthy, independent life.”
“It’s almost as if she doesn’t want my aunt to show that she’s healthy and independent,” Alex continued. “Because as we know about these guardianships and as my aunt has said, the system’s broken. The longer she’s under this guardianship, the longer they have the keys to her life.”
And while alleging that someone else controlling her entire world, Wendy said she was left with little hope.
Insisting that she had none of her money on hand, Wendy said she has just $15 and no financial freedom. “This system is broken,” Wendy said, saying she’s been dealing with “emotional abuse.”
Among the issues, Alex said there are “a lot of things go unchecked.” And she raised awareness for the “over 280,000 people” suffering what she believed her aunt was going through.
“Yes, we want her to live with dignity and be able to move on with her life,” she said of Wendy, “but her story is a fight that many other people are going through as well.”
