Seth Rogen is keeping his jokes on the page.
After The Studio won a total of 13 awards at the 2025 Emmy Awards, the show’s co-creator addressed why no one in the cast jokingly thanked Sal Saperstein—a character played by Ike Barinholtz—as a nod to the Apple TV+ series’ “Golden Globes” episode.
“It’s our own joke,” Seth told press following the Sept. 14 award show at Los Angeles’ Peacock Theater, as seen on social media. “It feels weird to reference your own joke.”
Indeed, the episode in question features devastated studio exec Matt Remick (played by Seth) after his fellow exec was thanked repeatedly by stars in their acceptance speeches. Even Zoë Kravitz, who played herself in the episode, extended her gratitude to Sal.
“We were hoping Jack Thorne would do it,” the 43-year-old quipped of the Adolescence co-creator, “but no.”
While he didn’t make any mention of Sal during his four acceptance speeches, Seth did admit that he was starting to feel awkward by the time he took the stage to accept his third trophy of the night after already winning Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, Best Writing for a Comedy Series and Best Directing for a Comedy Series.
