NBC knew how to get our hearts pumping, since both Wolf and Carol have some life decisions to make.
At the end of Brilliant Minds Season 2 Episode 1, we were shocked when Noah left Wolf a note, abandoning him again, just as Wolf was ready to have a long talk with his father.
It seemed like Wolf was going to sacrifice everything for his father. While we’re relieved he’s gone for now, could this help Wolf or make him backslide more?

Wolf sacrificed nearly everything to try to find a cure for Noah, but he remained emotionally closed off from his father.
It’s possible Noah sensed that and left to help his son, or it’s just as probable that Noah is still a selfish jerk.
Wolf is the type who will likely throw himself into his work and his relationships, assuming he can turn back the clock and pretend that Noah never returned.
Will Wolf Slip Back Into Old Ways on Brilliant Minds Season 2 Episode 2?
He’ll want to dissociate himself from Noah’s reappearance because his second abandonment will hurt less.

This coping method won’t work because, as the spoiler photos show, this is the scene where Nichols checks in on Wolf. You can lie to yourself, but you can’t lie to those who love you.
While part of me would love to rewind the last six weeks and find Wolf and Nichols in a happy place, it’s not realistic, and they need to work through their issues.
Neither of their lives will ever be perfect, but they need to trust the other to confide in them.
If Wolf continues to pretend life is fine, that will be his breaking point.
Carol Fights for Her Job, and the Patients She Cares About
Carol hated working with rich housewives who moaned about nonsensical issues, although it was amusing.

She’s like Wolf and wants to dig deep into the trenches with those who need her.
In many ways, they’re two of a kind because they both care deeply and become too invested in their patients’ rehabilitation.
Carol has to convince the board that she continued to treat Alison, even after she knew Alison was Morris’s mistress, because she feared for Alison’s mental state.
That may be more challenging than she thought since Carol believed she did the right thing, and the only person who’s staunchly in her corner is Muriel.
The Brilliant Minds promo and spoiler photos don’t feature Jacob or Van, making me wonder if Bronx Hospital has too many doctors.

While I enjoy seeing more departments and dynamics, I also don’t want to lose the four interns to the new doctors.
The Series Needs to Find a Balance Between Its Characters
From what we’ve seen, I’m unsure whether either Dr. Thorne or Charlie will be sympathetic to the weekly case, where the young woman thinks she’s on a reality show in the middle of the hospital.
That’s a Dr. Wolf and Dana specialty, dealing with this kind of stuff and keeping them calm.
However, these doctors will have to learn to combine their skill sets and work together. I’m looking forward to watching how they come together.

The featured weekly case will be an important one. A young woman (Molly Bernard) ends up at the hospital, imagining she’s an unwilling participant on a reality dating show.
While it provides some humorous scenes of her convinced she’s being filmed, and Wolf and the interns trying to deal with it, the subject matter is weighty and bound to affect them.
I suspect that since it is a mental health issue, we may see Dr. Fredericks (Bellamy Young) evaluate this patient and try to get her to stay at Hudson Oaks.
This is the case that will likely affect Wolf because he will empathize with someone who does not want to rely on their family or friends for help, but also knows the importance of a support group.

Noah ran away 30 years ago and did not trust Muriel or Wolf. That will haunt him forever and could be the aspect that makes him go over the edge.
He tried to finally forgive him, only to have his father leave him again. That kind of betrayal and abandonment will cut deep, but may make Wolf wonder if he has some of his father’s bipolar tendencies.
