It was hard to imagine in the years when Chris and Rich Robinson weren’t even on speaking terms, but the Black Crowes have managed to write and record their first studio album of new material in 15 years. Happiness Bastards is due March 15, with a hard-riffing, big-chorused first single, “Wanting and Waiting,” out now.  For the Robinsons, who reconciled in 2019 after what seemed like a final parting in 2015, creating new music together was the easy part. “I wouldn’t say we had to repair our writing relationship, because that was never an issue,” guitarist Rich Robinson says. “That…

Dwight Little’s legacy falls into one of three categories: horror, action, and TV. From the horror couplet that is Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers and the Robert Englund-starring Phantom of the Opera to the action trilogy of Rapid Fire, Marked for Death, and Murder at 1600, as well as his TV work (The X-Files among his most-known projects), Little has managed to reinvent himself numerous times over his 30+ years career. It’s not an easy task to stay relevant in an ever-evolving landscape, especially in the age of streaming, but Little’s instincts have always guided his creative hand.…

3. What many people don’t know is that Hart’s mom, Paula Hart, was actually the person responsible for getting a Sabrina TV series going after someone gave her the comic book on a playground. “She took it to Viacom, made the 1996 movie, and kept saying this would be a great TV show. [Executives] kept going, ‘Okay, whatever, whatever,'” Hart told Glamour in 2020. “She went to the editing room for the movie and cut together a five-minute trailer for a TV show, took it to the networks, and sold it to ABC on the spot. OpenAI — the developer of ChatGPT, a chatbot that shook things up in 2023 — has said that it would not be able to train its tools and products without having access to copyrighted materials in a statement made to the House of Lords communications and digital select committee. Twice a month Joe Lipsett will dissect a new Amityville Horror film to explore how the “franchise” has evolved in increasingly ludicrous directions. This is “The Amityville IP.” Welcome back to a new year of The Amityville IP. With Amityville Scarecrow, this editorial series leaves behind the scant four “franchise” titles released in 2021 for the gargantuan ten titles released in 2022. While Scarecrow is a similarly low budget production with some dodgy script decisions (courtesy of screenwriter Shannon Holiday), the emphasis on fractured family dynamics feels more in keeping with the early Amityville entries. For no apparent reason, the…

After seeing Margot Robbie’s latest Barbiecore fit at the Golden Globes, it’s hard to imagine any other actress was ever considered for the role. And yet, the world learned some shocking news recently, in that Robbie actually hadn’t initially considered herself an option for the starring role of Barbie. Instead, she envisioned fellow actress Gal Gadot playing the lead. Obviously that didn’t happen, and I won’t lie, I’m glad Gadot was never offered the position. As Deadline reported, Margot Robbie saw Gadot as the “personification” of the doll when she first stepped in to produce Barbie and wanted Greta Gerwig to…
