Last year, former developers at CD Projekt Red formed their own studio, Rebel Wolves. The new developer has now announced their first title, a dark fantasy story-driven RPG called Dawnwalker, which from the title and the initial artwork, gives off some vampiric undertones. “Throughout all my years in game development, story-driven role-playing adventures have always been something I was most passionate about,” said Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz, Rebel Wolves’ new Creative Director. “For me, nothing beats being able to fully immerse myself and discover handcrafted stories and worlds. There are so many fantastic RPGs out there today, however, I feel that there’s…
Paul Giamatti is one of those actors who always kills it on the big screen. Whether appearing in prestigious award-winning films, raunchy comedies, or even legendary kids movies, the award-winning actor is always firing on all cylinders, and more times than not is the most interesting person in any given scene. Over the years, I’ve been obsessed with the incredible character actor, and after spending the better part of the past few decades watching him go from having small yet scene-stealing roles in movies like Saving Private Ryan to winning a Golden Globe for his work in The Holdovers, and everything…
There’s some obvious good news about this year’s Primetime Emmy Awards. The show, hosted by Anthony Anderson, and dedicated to celebrating 75 years of television for the 75th annual Emmy ceremony, was about as solid and entertaining as modern awards telecasts get: lots of nostalgia, lots of reminders of why we love the medium being honored, and a minimum of prolonged comedy bits that don’t work. It wasn’t perfect, but it had energy and strong feelings for nearly all of its three-hour running time. More good news! Three incredible shows — the final season of HBO’s Succession, the first season…
In K-pop parlance, a comeback refers to a new song or album being released, with many groups issuing new material a couple times (or more) per year. But for the duo Sistar19, the comeback was seven years in the making. A sub-unit of the girl group Sistar, the pair debuted in 2011 with their hit “Ma Boy,” before breaking up in 2017 — the same year Sistar disbanded as well. “It wasn’t that we wanted to make a comeback exactly seven years later,” vocalist Kim Hyo-jung, who goes professionally by Hyolyn, tells Rolling Stone. “We’ve been talking about it since…
Photography courtesy of A24/Paramount+ with SHOWTIME. It is an objectively absurd show, which makes the wardrobe of its female protagonist, played by Emma Stone, all the more layered. By Natalie Michie Date January 15, 2024 To watch Emma Stone in The Curse is to subject yourself to constant second-hand embarrassment and distress. This is precisely the point. The satirical series tracks the weeks-long production of an HGTV show, starring aspiring eco-friendly developers Whitney Siegel (Stone) and her unsettlingly all-adoring husband Asher (Nathan Fielder). Is it a dry comedy, a slow-burn drama or a maniacal horror? The answer is yes. Photography…
Pedro Pascal knows how to get the last of our laughs. One week after Kieran Culkin took a playful jab at The Last of Us star while accepting a Golden Globe, Pedro continued the bit by revealing the true cause of his recent shoulder injury while presenting the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series award at the 2023 Emmys. “A lot of people have been asking about my arm, it’s actually my shoulder,” the 48-year-old—who has been rocking a sling throughout the last several award season events—said on the stage at Los Angeles’ Peacock Theater Jan. 15. “And I…

32 Centimeters After kicking off the year with Trace’s favorite Hellraiser film, Hellbound: Hellraiser II, we’re taking a hard left turn into camp, politics, and a German take on New York City with Killer Condom. We’ve previously discussed director Martin Walz‘s film in our editorial series (here) and it was a delight to revisit the sly, subversive tale of prophylactics that bite off men’s dicks. The hero of the tale is gay cop Luigi Mackeroni (Udo Samel), who has a trans ex, a mildly homophobic partner, and a twinky sex worker love interest. As police captains and politicians dispute the dangers of…
Robert Pattinson’s new movie Mickey 17 has been delayed indefinitely on the 2024 movie schedule. But when we dig into everything we know about Mickey 17, there’s still some interesting details to ponder. Director Bong Joon-ho’s latest film originally was slated to open in March. And now I’m simultaneously even more bummed, but also more intrigued to see this picture, thanks to co-star Mark Ruffalo sharing details on his own role. Speaking with Deadline, the Poor Things actor and MCU veteran admitted to being reticent to play villains before his role in one of 2023’s best movies. However, that has introduced…
Three of the most popular women in music today will be performing at the 2024 Grammy Awards. On Monday night, the Recording Academy revealed the first three performers of this year’s awards show: Billie Eilish, Olivia Rodrigo, and Dua Lipa. All three artists are up for major awards this year. Eilish’s “What Was I Made For?” is nominated for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Pop Solo Performance, Best Music Video, and Best Song Written for Visual Media. Meanwhile, her song with Labrinth, “Never Felt So Alone,” is also nominated for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance. Rodrigo’s “Vampire”…
His government name is Jason Bradley DeFord, but since he was a child, his mother and everyone else have called him Jelly Roll.So that’s what he goes by in country music, too.“My mother named me that whenever I was a little chubby kid,” the “Save Me” singer explained. It stuck, with some variations: Some just call him Jason, while others shorten to “Jelly.”The star’s wife, Bunnie Xo, however, has some different names that she calls the country music superstar. She lets fans know in a new TikTok video that she never calls him Jason.Bunnie captioned her video: “when ppl ask if we call each other…

By Jennifer Berry Date January 15, 2024 Red carpet season is in full swing and there is no rest for the stylish. After the months-long Hollywood writers’ strike halted TV and film production and promotion, including awards shows, 2024 is shaping up to be a marathon of ceremonies. As of mid-January, we’ve already seen A-list stars on the red carpet at the Golden Globes, Governors Awards, Critics Choice Awards and most recently, the Emmys.
