Interview with J. T. Skye, Author of First Strike: Rebellion

master mentalism tricks

What’s the story behind the story? What inspired you to write First Strike: Rebellion Begins?

I love the sci-fi genre and felt this new series would complement the broader space opera series’ already created.

What’s your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?

Sci-Fi generally, space opera, and space thriller.

What books are on your TBR pile right now?

Backyard Starship, Kutherian Gambit, McFadden and Banks, and Assignment in Eternity.

What scene in your book was your favorite to write?

Hmm, that is difficult because I really enjoy writing the characters and the flow of the story. I usually spend the most time making sure I have the last chapter the best it can be, so I have the most fun with that.

Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)

Not sure if it’s quirky, but I write at 4 am to about 9 am. That’s when I’m the most creative.

Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?

Three to share. 1) Life is what we make it. 2) There is no status quo – we are either moving forward or falling behind, you choose. 3) People show their true soul in times of terror.

If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?

That they felt happy and content the book took them away for a while. That is my purpose, to craft stories they will enjoy reading and to lift them away.
