Princess Charlotte Wears Flower Crown at King Charles’ Coronation in

Princess Charlotte wore her first tiara-like headpiece as a princess today for her grandfather King Charles’ coronation. The eight-year-old was photographed wearing a silver flower crown in her hair while wearing a white Alexander McQueen dress; her headpiece matched her mother Kate Middleton’s. Charlotte’s hair was styled up. The nature-inspired piece was likely a nod to Charles’ own love of environmentalism and conservation.

While Charlotte has no role in the ceremony itself, she is attending with her mother Kate Middleton and brothers Prince George and Prince Louis. George will be serving as a Page of Honour in the ceremony, while Louis will just be watching with Charlotte.

Charlotte just celebrated her eighth birthday last weekend, making it an especially special time for the young princess.

The Princess of Wales spoke about her children’s feelings on the coronation on Thursday. The family of five joined rehearsal for the service on Wednesday.

Kate discussed the family’s differing feelings with Mandy Leifheit of Seattle, Washington, during her visit to Dog & Duck Pub in London’s Soho. Leifheit then divulged the conversation to People.

“I asked if the kids were excited about the coronation, and she said, ‘They’re very excited. They had their rehearsal yesterday [Wednesday] so they knew what they’d expect,’” Leifheit said.

“She said she’s more nervous than the kids are since it’s such a big event for the kids to be part of. She said Louis will be there and that he’ll remember it,” Leifheit continued. She had generally glowing things to say about Kate and the impression she took away from their conversation: “It was a dream. She’s amazing. She’s so real and so natural—and this would be overwhelming but it’s not and she’s here.”
