A former Teen Mom 2 star is facing criminal charges after being arrested following an alleged domestic violence situation late this week in Florida.

Nathan Griffith, who formerly starred on the hit MTV show and shares a son with ex Jenelle Evans, was arrested on charges of domestic battery in Delray Beach, Florida on Friday. He is accused of allegedly choking his girlfriend, according to information first reported by TMZ.

A police affidavit in the case indicated cops in Delray Beach responded to a domestic disturbance call on Friday. The call had reportedly been placed by Nathan’s brother-in-law, William. On the phone, William told dispatchers Nathan had called him and said he “lost it.” Nathan apparently told William that he allegedly began choking his girlfriend before dragging her up the stairs in their home.

When Nathan suddenly hung up, William texted the girlfriend — who has not been identified by media reports — to ask if she was safe. When she replied “no,” William immediately called the cops.

Police officers were sent to the scene, where they confronted Nathan. There, per TMZ, he was said to be “uncooperative.” The former reality TV star even allegedly told cops William was “on drugs” and wasn’t a reliable source. However, officers dug a bit deeper and queried the girlfriend, too. They noticed several scratches on Nathan’s neck and back, as well. Griffith tried to claim they were from sex, but cops pressed further.

Per the docs, police officers believed the girl had been “recently” crying. That increased their concern as well. They noted she was apparently also “uncooperative” at first. However, she soon did come clean, alleging Nathan had been “aggressive” with her. She declined to give specifics, though. Instead, she told cops she “blacked out” during the ordeal. The media org notes police weren’t able to determine whether she meant that happened as part of being choked or not.

However, later in the report, cops note the woman apparently eventually shouted at them:

“I’m 100 some pounds and he’s 250 how in the hell am I supposed to get him off me.”

Whoa…

By then, the affidavit claims, the officers began to notice discolored “bruising on her neck” start to appear. So, they chose to arrest Griffith on the spot. He was taken into custody and charged with domestic battery by strangulation. According to People, he is still being held at the Palm Beach County Jail without bond.

Griffith and Evans had a very tumultuous relationship on Teen Mom 2 back when he appeared with her between 2013 and 2015. There were fiery fights, cheating allegations, and an eventually called-off engagement to end it all. Of course, the two are forever connected even after their split — as they share 8-year-old son Kaiser together.

Nathan had gotten married to May Oyola last year, but things had reportedly soured between the two since then. It’s unclear if (or when) they divorced amid this report of his alleged incident with this unnamed girlfriend.
