Aubrey Plaza Looks Back at ‘Scream 4’ Audition In Which

Wes Craven’s Scream 4 has gained a lot more respect over the years. The social media and text-based film was a natural step for the franchise to take at the time and once again Crave was ahead of his time. It turns out that Parks and Rec star, Aubrey Plaza had originally auditioned for the role of one of the killers and she tells Hits Radio that she went “full method” for the role.

“One of the earlier auditions I had was for Wes Craven for like the Scream remake or something,” Plaza said. “They told me, ‘You’re going in to audition to play a character that you eventually find out is the killer’ or whatever. So, I took that really literally, and I was thinking, ‘Alright, I’m gonna dress like the killer.’”

Plaza admits to going “full method” for the audition. Since she is talking about the role of a killer in Scream 4, we assume that she means the part that Emma Roberts ended up playing.

“I was really frumpy because I thought, I’m a murderer and then everybody else was glamorous and they all looked great, and I just looked insane,” Plaza recalled. “And they were like, ‘The whole point is that we’re not supposed to know that you were the killer. You pretty much just look like a murderer right away.’ Anyway, I blew that one. Didn’t make it very far.”

We loved Roberts in the role. However, now we can’t stop thinking about how great it would have been to see Plaza in that role. But with Plaza’s more morbid side and sense of humor, it might have been too easy to tell who the killer actually was.
