Barbarian

What exactly is going on in 20th Century Studios and New Regency’s new film Barbarian? We aren’t quite sure yet, but whatever it is, it looks horrifying. The film, exclusively coming to theaters this August, seems like a traveler’s worst nightmare when a house rental goes absolutely sideways. Plus, Bill Skarsgård stars in the film, and after his work as Pennywise in IT, we know he’s a bonafide Scary Guy.

In Barbarian, a young woman traveling to Detroit for a job interview books a rental home. But when she arrives late at night, she discovers that the house is double-booked, and a strange man is already staying there. Against her better judgment, she decides to spend the evening. But she soon discovers that there’s a lot more to fear than just an unexpected house guest.

The trailer doesn’t give us much in terms, but that’s the best kind of trailer. All we really know is there’s a network of weird tunnels under the house and maybe there’s brainwashing involved. Whatever Barbarian has in store for us, I welcome it with open arms.

Georgina Campbell, Bill Skarsgård, Justin Long, Matthew Patrick Davis, Richard Brake, Kurt Braunohler, and Jaymes Butler star in Barbarian. The film was written and directed by Zach Cregger wrote and directed the film. Arnon Milchan, Roy Lee, Raphael Margules and J.D. Lifshitz serve as producers. Yariv Milchan, Michael Schaefer, Natalie Lehmann, Danny Chan, Alex Lebovici, and Bill Skarsgård are the film’s executive producers.

Barbarian comes exclusively to theaters on August 31, 2022.
