Hulu is getting its freak on.
The Disney-owned streamer Hulu has dropped their fair share of spooky titles earlier in the month, and I’m absolutely ready dive into a few of these. While it’s not horror by any strict sense of the definition, Tim Burton’s Batman entries are a true 90s gothic fantasia. I’m still not sure which film fans gravitate to more, but I’ve sure got a favorite. Batman Returns is a cornucopia of strange frosty mayhem. And Michelle Pfeiffer’s Catwoman? Where’s that solo film?
More traditional horror titles I’ll be revisiting on Hulu ASAP include Ghosts of Mars and Lake Placid. While it’s been far too long since I’ve seen Ghosts of Mars to remember anything specific, the set-up reads like a shlock fest I just might be able to get into. I’ve also been meaning to pay my respects to Betty White, so Lake Placid is a definite must.
Here is every spooky title Hulu released this month:
Batman (1989)
Batman Returns
Beautiful Creatures
Black Swan
House of the Dead
Invasion of the Body Snatchers
John Carpenter’s Ghosts of Mars
Lake Placid
Mirrors
Nightmare Alley
Rosemary’s Baby
The Stepfather
The Feast
If you’re planning on taking a Hulu trip into Nightmare Alley, check out my four star review from December. Another non-traditional horror film of sorts, its glittery wintertime violence is an absolute February mood. I was sad to learn Guillermo del Toro’s latest failed at the box-office, but my sorrow soon lifted after learning it still earned itself four Academy Award nominations. I’m rooting for you, GDT.
Lastly, which of the new spooky titles hitting Hulu will you be revisiting? Let me know on Twitter via @joshkorngut. I’m always around to chat all things Hulu horror!
