Gremlins: Secrets Of The Mogwai Finally Gets A Trailer

Director Franklin Ritch’s screenplay provides moviegoers with the moral and ethical issues related to artificial intelligence and the toll technology overall plays on humanity. The Artifice Girl is not your typical AI film showcasing AI going rogue such as The Terminator and Class of 1999; instead, we receive something entirely different.

The film’s initial setup is fascinating and powerful, even though it takes place in a small windowless room. In this interrogation room, we are introduced to the skilled special agents Deena (played by Sinda Nichols) and Amos (played by David Girard).

The two agents are shown conducting an intense interrogation of a man suspected of involvement in child trafficking. The man in question, Gareth (Franklin Ritch), has used his unique programming skill set to create an AI capable of pretending to be a young girl, Cherry (Tatum Matthews), and many concerns arise from this technology.

The film is kept simple, and the director relies heavily on the dialogue to carry itself, allowing the audience to build the story using their imagination.

In my interview with Sinda Nichols and David Girard, each spoke about the interrogation scene in act one and how they navigated through such heavy dialogues during filming. David Girard (Amos) is a well-versed actor with over 20 years of experience in theater and film. Sinda Nichols (Deena) is no stranger to performance as she’s a long-time actor on stage, making these two the perfect agent duo.
