Check out everything we know about the 2022 adaptation of ‘Salem’s Lot’!

'Salem's Lot

One of the 2022 horror releases I’m most psyched about has got to be Stephen King’s ‘Salem’s Lot. New Line Cinema has had mega success in recent memory with King properties (IT baby!), and I’m sure they’re going all in with the first ever theatrical adaptation of the terrifying novel.

Over the course of 2021, Dread Central brought you a slew of exciting updates about the forthcoming adaptation, including tons of casting updates and even the first-ever look at the Marsden house.

Now that the year is young as it’s ever gonna be, what better time to recall all we know about the highly anticipated upcoming adaptation. ‘Salem’s Lot is my favorite Stephen King novel of all time, so you’re in good hands.

Here is everything we currently know about Salem’s Lot 2022!

The creative team

The creative team behind the new ‘Salem’s Lot is a who’s-who of the spooky mainstream cabal. Gary Dauberman directs this time around. He’s the writer behind It: Chapter Two and the Annabelle series. You’ve also got James Wan (Insidious, The Conjuring) producing alongside Mark Wolper and Roy Lee. Lee has the honor of producing IT, which currently sits as the highest-grossing horror movie ever made.

The ‘Salem’s Lot cast

Pullman will take on the weight of ‘Salem’s LotTHR reports. While Pullman is still a relatively fresh face in Hollywood, he’s already making his mark. He delivers scene-stealing performances in Bad Times at the El Royale and The Strangers: Prey at Night. Son of screen royalty Bill Pullman, Lewis’ next high profile performance will be as the protege to Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible: Maverick.

Makenzie Leigh, Bill Camp, and Spencer Treat Clark have all officially been sired to spend some time in the vampire-infested town.

You’ll also remember Leigh from her time on TV’s Gotham and the American adaptation of The Slap. Susan Norton is a longtime resident of Jerusalem’s Lot who helps Ben Mears in his attempt to defend the town from invasive vampires.

Bill Camp is a decorated stage and screen actor who recently earned a SAG nomination for his role as Mr. Shaibel on Netflixs’ smash hit series The Queen’s Gambit. Camp is also known for his role in TV’s The Night Of. He will be returning to Broadway in an upcoming revival of A Long Day’s Journey Into Night.

Additionally, Spencer Treat Clark will stumble into town as problem-maker Mike Ryerson. Clark has been around the genre block a few times, having starred in M. Night Shyamalan outings Unbreakable and Glass. Other genre-fare Clark has appeared in include The Town That Dreaded Sundown, The Last Exorcism Part II, The Last House on the Left, and TV’s The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.

More casting

Veteran character actor William Sadler also announced via Twitter that he has joined the cast, likely in the role of the main antagonist but is yet to be confirmed. Sadler is a prolific actor, appearing in genre films, television series, and even Tony Award-winning plays such as Biloxi Blues. Most notably, he’s known for his performances in Die Hard 2The Shawshank Redemption, and Tales from the Crypt: Demon Knight

Game of Thrones star Pilou Asbæk will also be joining the Lot. He is playing the role of Richard Straker, the Reinfield-esque vampire assistant in the Stephen King adaptation. (In other words, a real bad dude.)

Other confirmed cast members include Alfre Woodard as Dr. Cody, John Benjamin Hickey as Father Callahan, Jordan Preston Carter as Mark Petrie, Nicholas Crovetti, as Danny Glick and Cade Woodward as Ralph Glick.

The production

As of October, filming was officially underway in Clinton, Massachusetts. Around the time of the film shoot, Dread Central received our very first image of the set construction of the Marsten House (pictured below). It’s more than likely that filming has officially wrapped.

This isn’t the first time Clinton, MA has stood in for Jerusalem’s Lot. The sleepy New England town was also the backdrop for the vampire-infested village during the second season of Hulu’s Castle Rock. We’re not surprised either, as the location is pure Stephen King vibes.

Salem’s Lot will hit theatres Stateside on September 9, 2022, by Warner Bros. Pictures. It sees a streamer release via HBO Max 45 days later.

Lastly, how do you feel about this new version of Salem’s Lot? Are you excited to see what Dauberman and friends are cooking up? Let me know on Twitter via @joshkorngut. I’m always down to talk all things, Stephen King!
