The 22nd Annual Screamfest Horror Film Festival has kicked off on October 11th at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, CA! The event started with the World Premiere of the feature horror-thriller Matriarch. Actress and Screamfest alumna Sarah Nicklin (The Retaliators) was there to cover the launch for Dread Central. Read on for an exclusive video capturing the event, which includes interviews with Matriarch filmmaker Ben Steiner and star Jemima Rooper, as well as actress Lydia Hearst (Slayers) and Screamfest founder Rachel Belofsky.
Watch our coverage of the event:
Written and directed by Steiner, Matriarch revolves around Laura Birch (Rooper), who after an overdose escapes the high-stakes pressure of the advertising world to return to her roots. Accepting an invitation from her estranged mother, Laura hopes the time away in the secluded English village will help calm the demons raging inside of her. She soon discovers that the locals of the town are all protecting an unspeakably dark secret – a secret that involves not only her mother but her own terrifying destiny as well.
Co-starring Kate Dickie of “Game of Thrones”, Matriarch is set to bow on Hulu on October 21st.
