Get ready to strike a pose. Dread has officially acquired the North American rights to Takeshi Kushida’s haunting first film Woman Of The Photographs. Check out the strange and sensual trailer for the horror title below.

Woman Of The Photographs stars famous Japanese stage actor Hideki Nagai and dancer/actress Itsuki Otaki. Deadline reports the film will be released in select theaters on February 3, before its VOD release February 7.

The film follows “a solitary and skilled digital photographer who begins a twisted romance with a model suffering from body dysmorphia and obsessed with appearing perfect in her photos.”

Takeshi Kushida’s debut feature originally premiered at the Osaka Asian Film Festival in Japan and received its North American premiere at the prestigious Fantasia Film Festival in Montreal, Canada.

“All of us at Dread are incredibly excited for audiences to experience the beauty and horror of this award-winning film,” says Epic Pictures and Dread CEO Patrick Ewald.

“Today, we live in a world where even memories can be falsified by editing photos,” adds Kushida. “For those of us who live in such an era, I made this film to find out what real happiness is. It could be seen as a romance, comedy, or horror. So I hope you enjoy it from your unique point of view.”

The Woman Of The Photographs deal was negotiated by Patrick Ewald on behalf of Epic Pictures as well as Ryan Bury from Motion Picture Exchange.
