Interview With the Vampire is coming back this time without Tom Cruise or Brad Pitt. But, instead, it will arrive in a longer form AMC package. This iteration will tell a longer tale than the two-hour film. In fact, the 8 episodes are going to be a great expansion and allow much more of Anne Rice’s novel to be told.
The new full-length trailer was revealed at SDCC and fans have been going nuts about it online.
Lestat and Louis are played by Sam Reid and Jacob Anderson. The new actors are bringing the fierce vampire look from 1994’s film adaptation.
An 8-hour mini-series has the opportunity to tell the entire tale of Rice’s book. I’m hoping that this version further explores Claudia and Louis’ time at sea. Sadly, the film skipped over that section to keep the narrative flowing. It worked for Neil Jordan’s time constraints, but here we are able to be with these characters for a lot more time.
The synopsis for Neil Jordan’s 1994 Interview With the Vampire adaptation went like this:
Born as an 18th-century lord, Louis is now a bicentennial vampire, telling his story to an eager biographer. Suicidal after the death of his family, he meets Lestat, a vampire who persuades him to choose immortality over death and become his companion. Eventually, gentle Louis resolves to leave his violent maker, but Lestat guilts him into staying by turning a young girl — whose addition to the “family” breeds even more conflict.
Interview with the Vampire stars Jacob Anderson (Game of Thrones), Sam Reid (The Newsreader), Bailey Bass (Avatar: The Way of the Water) and Eric Bogosian (Succession).
The all-new series begins on AMC October 2.
