A Banquet Clip Previews Horror Film Starring Sienna Guillory

ComingSoon is debuting a clip from A Banquet, a horror film by Ruth Paxton. The film is out today in theaters and on demand. The film was first premiered at the 2021 Toronto International Film Festival and stars Resident Evil actress Sienna Guillory.

The film “explores the ferocity of maternal love, psychology of food and power, the importance of one’s sense of purpose, and the questions of female madness and faith. The film uses subtle supernatural elements to create tension within a family in the midst of a breakdown, exploiting the complicated bond between three generations of mothers and daughters.”

“Widowed mother Holly (Sienna Guillory) is radically tested when her teenage daughter Betsey (Jessica Alexander) experiences a profound enlightenment and insists that her body is no longer her own, but in service to a higher power,” says the synopsis. “Bound to her newfound faith, Betsey refuses to eat but loses no weight. In an agonizing dilemma, torn between love and fear, Holly is forced to confront the boundaries of her own beliefs.”

A Banquet runs 97 minutes and also stars Jessica Alexander, Ruby Stokes, Kaine Zajaz, and Lindsay Duncan.
